A Level company - serving Hoffman Estates, IL

Famco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Famco Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Hoffman Estates: What to Know First

We provide independent Famco chimney liner and rebuild service in Hoffman Estates, with most liner replacements completed in one day and full rebuilds typically finished inside of three days. Every job starts with a camera-scan inspection and a written price before any work begins - no exceptions, no surprises. If you own a Famco chimney component and need liner work or masonry rebuild, call (331) 200-4445. We’ll send a written estimate you can compare, and our Free Second Opinion policy means we’ll review any competitor’s written quote at no charge.

How Famco Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Famco 304L flexible liner series: weld-seam corrosion at the flex points. The 304L alloy is spec’d for standard wood-burning duty, but in Hoffman Estates we see accelerated failure where the flex section meets the rigid collar - especially on north-facing exposures that stay wet longer through freeze-thaw cycles. We cut back to sound metal and transition to a DuraFlex 316Ti or 316L liner with a factory-welded collar; the 316 alloy resists chloride attack from combustion condensate better than 304L in our climate.
  • Famco rigid 316L straight-run liners: thermal expansion joint failure in two-story flues. Famco’s rigid sections use a slip-joint design that can gap after repeated thermal cycling in tall Hoffman Estates colonials built 1985-2005. We find the gap with the camera, then either replace the joint with a Gelco expansion assembly or sleeve the full run if the gap has caused adjacent spalling.
  • Famco UL-listed top-mount dampers: cast-aluminum throat plate warping. The damper plate itself seals fine when new, but after five to seven seasons the aluminum warps against the steel frame and the seal fails. Smoke and cold air leak back. We remove the Famco damper, document the throat dimensions with photos, and fit a replacement from the same spec or upgrade to a Copperfield cast-stainless throat if the flue size allows - better thermal stability, same UL 1777 listing.
  • Famco chimney caps: mesh screen detachment from the base ring. The spot-weld holding the mesh to the galvanized base ring shears in wind events common to the open terrain west of Hoffman Estates. We see this on caps installed 2010-2018. Rather than re-weld, we replace with a Gelco or Olympia cap in the same dimension, using a stainless base ring and mechanical-fastened mesh - field-repairable if it ever happens again.
  • Famco smoke chamber parging: Hairline fracturing above the damper. Famco’s refractory parging mix cures hard, but it doesn’t always bond to the original corbelled brick in older Hoffman Estates homes with irregular smoke chambers. The crack looks like a liner problem on first glance. Camera first, price second, pen third - in that order every time. We map the crack with the scan, then either re-parge with HeatShield Cerfractory Foam if the structure is sound, or rebuild the corbel and re-line if the brick behind it has loosened.

Our Famco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process

Our Famco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process
  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers. We book a Level 2 inspection slot, assign a named technician, and text when they’re en route.
  2. 2
Camera-scan inspection. NFPA 211 Level 2 - camera down the flue, photo record of every surface, readings on liner thickness and clearances. Clause 4 of the Haven Standard requires this documentation on every job; we’ve done it since 2009.
  3. 3
Written price and scope. We deliver a flat price, written scope, and written warranty before any work starts - Haven Standard Clause 1. For Famco jobs, we specify OEM versus aftermarket parts and explain the trade-off: Famco-branded collars match existing geometry exactly; DuraFlex or Gelco equivalents often carry longer corrosion warranties and cost less through our buying network.
  4. 4
Repair or rebuild. Liner pulls are done with rope and cone, not forced. Rebuilds course in new brick to match existing bond, with a cricket or saddle if the roof pitch demands it. We source materials through Haven’s network to keep customer prices honest.
  5. 5
Post-work test and documentation. Smoke test or video verification of the new liner run. Photos of completed work. Written warranty with the 365-Day Done Right Promise stamped on it.
  6. 6
Cleanup and record archive. We leave the work area as found. Your service record goes into our archive - Corrine still keeps the binder backup because her handwriting is better than any app she has tried.
